• White House Cancels Poetry Symposium
In a obvious attempt to head off this action, the White House said Wednesday it postponed a poetry symposium because of concerns that the event would be politicized. Some poets had said they wanted to protest military action against Iraq.

The symposium on the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman was scheduled for Feb. 12. No future date has been announced.

Note: LAME! Gotta watch out for those SPIES ya know...
• xymphora on Yemen
When John O'Neill went to Yemen to investigate the terrorist attack on the USS Cole in 2000, he was frustrated in his investigation by the actions of the U. S. Ambassador to Yemen, Barbara Bodine, who was supposedly so incensed by O'Neill's undiplomatic attitude towards the Yemenis that she barred him from returning to the country. Barbara Bodine was an appointment of the Clinton administration, and George Bush wasn't selected President until later, but the American Ambassador still made it impossible for O'Neill to investigate what happened in Yemen.

Later, when Bush was President, he expressly called off any investigations of bin Laden and the bin Laden family (the fact that Bush continues to get a free pass for this from the U. S. media just shows how corrupted they are), an action which has usually been thought to relate to the close business ties between the bin Laden family and the Bush family, particularly in Saudi financing of early George Bush businesses and Bush's father's involvement in the Carlyle Corporation.

This may surprise most educated people. One of the more common government strategies today, especially in developing regions is fascism. Fascism is commonly confused with Nazism. The hospital had the only radiology lab in the nation, and it was faltering. Other labs in the country, with their old equipment, had fallen into disrepair. At his hospital, there were only three of eight original machines working. None could be repaired and no new labs could be opened. Why? Because the US considers such equipment and spare parts to be "dual use" - potentially convertible to weapons. "It absurd," Dr. Kasha noted. "They ban cobalt for our machines like its uranium." Radiological equipment is only the beginning. Simple items like blood bags or chlorine for cleaning are difficult if not impossible to import, because some chemicals could be possibly diverted. The medical university's biological research lab couldn't function because the US banned any chemicals needed for such work. Even totally benign items such as test tubes took months to get approval from the sanctions committee to import. And most inexplicably, Iraq's medical establishment has been completely unable to import or receive Western medical journals and research. "Our medical library is now like a medical history museum," he noted, shaking his head.

I myself feel that our country, for whose Constitution I fought in a just war, might as well have been invaded by Martians and body snatchers. Sometimes I wish it had been. What has happened, though, is that it has been taken over by means of the sleaziest, low-comedy, Keystone Cops-style coup d’etat imaginable. • PRESIDENT REASSURES U.S.: "OUR RIGHTEOUS SLAUGHTER OF IRAQI BABIES SHALL NOT BE THWARTED BY FRAIDY CAT EURO-FAGGOTS!"
Statement by the President

THE PRESIDENT: Good afternoon. Please be seated. This is going to be quick – I want to get back to that freshly-cracked box of Slim-Jims in the war room.

This morning, I looked on in utter disgust as FOX NEWS reported that a majority of Americans have traitorously informed pollsters that not only do they doubt my ability to handle America's foreigner policy with alien nations, but that they also think I'm moving too fast to send legions of the expendable darkies in our military to die gruesomely while exacting my completely non-personal vengeance on Saddam Hussein.

Of course, I knew immediately that something was terribly wrong. Real Americans would never allow themselves to forget that I became twice as intelligent and competent the moment planes started slamming into buildings on 9/11/2001. They would never forget how I was instantly transformed from a non-elected colossal joke into a throbbing pillar of Presidential talent incapable of making mistakes. No, they would never do any of these things... unless some external force was influencing them and turning them against me.

Teacher reprimanded for letting students read books, not watch TV
"To Ms. Ehrenfeld: This morning I observed that during the morning news program, you and your students were engaged in activities other than watching television."

So began the official letter of reprimand placed in my personnel folder by the principal at the elementary school in Maryland where I was teaching 3rd grade at the time. Odd as the accusation was, it was made even odder by the fact that my students were reading when the principal caught them not watching television. She had walked in, and there they were, sitting as silently as a group of 3rd graders can, every one of them absorbed in a book.

February 12 a day of Poetry Against the War
HI Poets!
Now's our chance to get your poem against the war delivered to the White House. Spread the news! All good wishes, to all beings.

======================
Dear Friends and Fellow Poets:
When I picked up my mail and saw the letter marked "The White House," I felt no joy. Rather I was overcome by a kind nausea as I read the card enclosed:

Laura Bush

at a reception and
White House Symposium on
"Poetry and the American Voice"
on Wednesday, February 12, 2003
at one o'clock

Only the day before I had read a lengthy report on the President's proposed "Shock and Awe" attack on Iraq, calling for saturation bombing that would be like the firebombing of Dresden or Tokyo, killing countless innocent civilians.

I believe the only legitimate response to such a morally bankrupt and unconscionable idea is to reconstitute a Poets Against the War movement like the one organized to speak out against the war in Vietnam.

I am asking every poet to speak up for the conscience of our country and lend his or her name to our petition against this war, and to make February 12 a day of Poetry Against the War. We will compile an anthology of protest to be presented to the White House on that afternoon.

Please submit your name and a poem or statement of conscience to: kokua@olympus.net

There is little time to organize and compile. I urge you to pass along this letter to any poets you know. Please join me in making February 12 a day when the White House can truly hear the voices of American poets.

• The End of Ordinary Money
by J. Orlin Grabbe
Late one night while sharing a pharmacological product with a spook I met in the northeastern part of the United States, I mentioned I was studying cryptology.

"Cryptology is the future," he responded emphatically. "It's what's going to protect us from Big Brother."

Since he worked for the National Security Agency (NSA), the thought did occur to me that many would have taken the position that he and his colleagues were Big Brother. But I had learned years ago not to demonize people on the basis of an accidental profession. After all, if an ex-CIA employee like Kerry Thornley could become a staunch libertarian, the creator of Zenarchy and implied co-author of the Erisian holy book Principia Discordia [1], then there was hope for all of us. I additionally believed that one of our best defenses against the national security state was the perennial proclivity of clandestine organizations to piss off their own employees.

• I'm losing patience with my neighbours, Mr Bush
I'm really excited by George Bush's latest reason for bombing Iraq: he's running out of patience. And so am I!

For some time now I've been really pissed off with Mr Johnson, who lives a couple of doors down the street. Well, him and Mr Patel, who runs the health food shop. They both give me queer looks, and I'm sure Mr Johnson is planning something nasty for me, but so far I haven't been able to discover what. I've been round to his place a few times to see what he's up to, but he's got everything well hidden. That's how devious he is.

As for Mr Patel, don't ask me how I know, I just know - from very good sources - that he is, in reality, a Mass Murderer. I have leafleted the street telling them that if we don't act first, he'll pick us off one by one.

Some of my neighbours say, if I've got proof, why don't I go to the police? But that's simply ridiculous. The police will say that they need evidence of a crime with which to charge my neighbours.

They'll come up with endless red tape and quibbling about the rights and wrongs of a pre-emptive strike and all the while Mr Johnson will be finalising his plans to do terrible things to me, while Mr Patel will be secretly murdering people. Since I'm the only one in the street with a decent range of automatic firearms, I reckon it's up to me to keep the peace. But until recently that's been a little difficult. Now, however, George W. Bush has made it clear that all I need to do is run out of patience, and then I can wade in and do whatever I want!
• Pentagon May Use Mass Graves for GIs
Friday, January 24, 2003 - WASHINGTON - The bodies of U.S. soldiers killed by chemical or biological weapons in Iraq or future wars may be bulldozed into mass graves and burned to save the lives of surviving troops, under an option being considered by the Pentagon.

Since the Korean War, the U.S. military has taken great pride in bringing home its war dead, returning bodies to next of kin for flag-draped, taps-sounding funerals complete with 21-gun salutes.

But the 53-year-old tradition could come to an abrupt halt if large numbers of soldiers are killed by chemical or biological agents, according to a proposal quietly circulating through Pentagon corridors.

A government as eager as ours to invade another country would normally be expected to have excellent reasons for going to war. And yet virtually no other country accepts the reasons our rulers have offered for attacking Iraq, and the United States seems to have lost sight of how aggressive it appears to the world. The official explanations for the invasion are, indeed, so inadequate, we are forced to look elsewhere for better ones.

• "The Matrix" proposed for New Jersey
New Jersey state Senate bill 1909 proposes to allow human cloning, provided the fetus is aborted. In other words, a human may be cloned, implanted into a female surrogate, and then harvested for organs and body parts provided that the cloned human is killed prior to being born.

Originally intended to be a ban on cloning, NJ Senate bill 1909 was twisted around by legislatures (as so often happens) to encourage cloning. How did they manage to spin it?

By redefining cloning to necessarily involve the "newborn" stage:
As used in this section, "cloning of a human being" means the replication of a human individual by cultivating a cell with genetic material through the egg, embryo, fetal and newborn stages into a new human individual.
The bill also allows for trafficking in human body parts. According to a Jan. 13, 2003 Bergen, NJ Record article:
In its present form, the bill could allow biotechnology companies to raise cloned babies to harvest stem cells or even body parts and, while making it illegal to buy or sell embryonic or fetal tissue for profit, it also allows "reasonable payment" for embryo production and preservation costs. Such a sloppy definition could generate a market in human guinea pigs, [Marie Tasy, the legislative director for New Jersey Right to Life] said.

• SADDAM WILL COME INTO YOUR FRONT YARD AND PISS ON YOUR ROSE BUSHES IF WE DON'T KILL HIM FIRST!
18.) If the US nuclear deterrent can keep Saddam from using any weapons of mass destruction he has, then just why is the US so eager to actually invade Iraq?

A: Oil. The US Government is broke; so deep in debt that all the income tax paid by all the citizens cannot keep up with the interest payments. The American people are burdened by high taxation, most of which is hidden in excises, fees, tariffs, etc. and passed onto the citizen hidden in the price of consumer goods. The government has had to recently borrow more money just to make the payments on the money it already owes, and borrows so much money that it drives up interest rates, which means YOU pay more for the money you need to borrow as a result. All businesses take that increased interest, plus the taxes and fees they pay and pass them onto you in the final retail price. You would be amazed just how much of the purchase price of anything you buy eventually tracks back to government.

Whether you are looking for technology PR in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Nordics, Spain or across Europe, AxiCom can provide the unrivalled knowledge and support you need."

And regarding DARPA:

"consider, for example, the stunning amount of personal data collected by the private firm Axicom."

Also, DARPA seems to have outlined three objectives last month. To collect information about people through all mediums. To use this information to fight terrorism which includes using hypothesis. (now who's a conspiracy theorist) But also, to use this information for commercial use! Let me say that not only will they be guestimating who the terrorist are, the rest of the people will have their privacy protected by private firms that build profiles of "Individual Americans". - note they only seem to mention Americans as the target of their information gathering.

Source: (straight from the source)
http://www.darpa.mil/iao/secpriv.pdf (all you need to do is simply go to darpa.mil and go to the news section. It is one of two news items.)

Also: If you have the time, start doing Google searches for Axicom. Keep your eyes open for the companies they are forming partnerships with. Some of those B2B relationships are cross-mixing Europe and US "Public Relations" companies together. Now don't forget what DARPA said about Axicom and look up the companies that are in partnerships with Axicom. Notice the types of services these companies provide and ask yourself how easy it would be to get information about people through these various service outlets.

• Could the Pentagon disable the Internet or portions of it in the event of war?
Bruce Schneier Founder and CTO of Counterpane Internet Security thinks so. "My guess is that the U.S. military could disable large parts of the Internet, at least for a while, if they wanted," writes Schneier in this month's issue of Cryptogram. "But I doubt that they would do so; it's far too useful an asset, and far too large a part of our economy. More interesting is whether they would try to disable pieces of it. If we went to war with country X, would we want to disable their portion of the Internet, or remove connections between their Internet and our Internet? Depending on the country, a low-tech solution might be the easiest: disable whatever undersea cables they're using as access. Could the U.S. military turn the Internet into a U.S.-only network if they wanted? That seems less likely, although again a low-tech solution involving the acquiescence of companies like Cable & Wireless might be the easiest. One important thing to remember here is that you only want to shut an enemy's network down if you aren't getting useful information from it. The best thing to do is to infiltrate the enemy's computers and networks, spy on them, and surreptitiously disrupt select pieces of their communications, when appropriate. The next best thing is to passively eavesdrop. After that, the next best is to perform traffic analysis. Only if you can't do any of that do you consider shutting the thing down. "
• At Skull and Bones, Bush's Secret Club Initiates Ream Gore
It’s the primal scene of American power, of Bush family values. For two centuries, the initiation rite of Skull and Bones has shaped the character of the men who have shaped the American character, including two Presidents named Bush.

And last Saturday, April 14–for the first time ever–that long-secret rite was witnessed by a team of outsiders, including this writer.

from Preventive Psychiatry
Diane Perlman, PhD & Marc Pilisuk, PhD,

We are psychologists and social scientists who have studied and worked with trauma, fear, humiliation and violence, and who have studied the psychology of conflict, enmity, terrorism, domination, and creative ways of ending cycles of violence and retaliation. As war preparations accelerate, we see evidence for a clear and present danger that can be prevented.

As psychotherapists, we are bound by an ethical code which states that if we are aware that one is dangerous to oneself or others, we are legally required to warn those in danger. Our duty to inform takes precedence over all ethical considerations. We cannot remain silent in the face of avoidable danger. It is our professional opinion that the war now being planned might trigger a number of violent reactions, including massive traumatization of innocent civilians.

A more honest and realistic scenario would be the detention of Americans. Under "Rex" the President could declare a state of emergency, empowering the head of FEMA to take control of the internal infrastructure of the U.S. and suspend the Constitution.

The President could invoke Executive Orders 11000 through 11004 which would draft all citizens into work forces under governmental supervision, empower the postmaster to register all men, women, and children, seize all airports and aircraft, and seize all housing to establish forced relocation of all citizens.

Congressman Henry Gonzales clarified the question of the existence of civilian detention camps by stating, "The truth is yes - you do have these standby provisions and the plans are here...whereby you could, in the name of stopping terrorism...evoke the military and arrest Americans and put them in detention camps."
